Quick Start Guide

Follow these initial steps to secure your digital environment in less than 5 minutes.

1. Account Creation

Sign up without providing any personal data. Your unique identifier is generated locally to guarantee anonymity from the start.

2. Recovery Key

Generate and securely save your Master Recovery Key. Warning: We have no way to reset your access if you lose it.

3. Data Encryption

Start storing files or sending messages. Everything is automatically encrypted before it ever leaves your device.

Self-Hosting

Privacy Guard can be deployed on your own servers via Docker for total control over your infrastructure.

  • Prerequisites: Docker 20.10+, Docker Compose, 2GB RAM.
  • Database: PostgreSQL 14 or higher recommended.
  • SSL: A valid TLS certificate is mandatory for encryption in transit.

Command Line Interface (CLI)

For advanced users, our CLI tool allows you to automate backups and manage large files without size limitations.

Where are my keys stored?

Your private keys never leave your device. They are stored in your OS secure enclave (Keychain, Keystore).
